Virginia Cazares entered into eternal rest on March 1, 2016, in La Habra, California. She was 91 years old. Virginia was a California native, born and raised in Los Angeles to Thomas and Mary Cazares on March 18, 1924. Virginia attended Lincoln High School in Lincoln Heights. She worked for Karl's Shoe Stores from 1964 until her retirement in 1984. She made her home in Montebello where she lived for over 36 years. In her later years, she moved with her daughter Magdalena (Joe) Bezerra to their home in Whittier California.

Virginia was active and known throughout the Montebello community. She was involved in local affairs and energetically worked to improve the quality of life for her and her neighbors. Virginia was a Block Captain of the Neighborhood Watch Organization and worked tirelessly with the Montebello Police Department to ensure her community was safe and secure. Virginia efforts extended past her civic duty. She was also a parishioner of St Benedict’s church in Montebello.

Throughout her life, Virginia was a vibrant and spry woman who enjoyed socializing with friends and family. Nothing demonstrated this fact more than Virginia’s love of dancing. Throughout her life, Virginia entered into numerous dance competitions and was a Jitterbug Champion a fact she often recollected on fondly.

Virginia was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her two children; daughter Magdalena (Joe) Bezerra of Whittier, California and son Rudolph Chico Jr. of Florida. She also leaves behind her grandchildren John Paul Bezerra of Washington DC, Marc Thomas Bezerra of Long Beach, Keely Melendez of Sacramento, great grandchildren Lauren Corcoran of San Francisco, Ashley Corcoran of Washington DC, Sister Rosemarie Lopez of Los Angeles, nephew Manuel (Maryann) Valenzuela of San Gabriel as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was greeted at Heaven's gate by her daughter Tomasa Melendez who preceded her in death.

Virginia will have a Memorial Service at St. Benedict’s Church on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 10:00 am. See below for address and directions.
