Vivian Adele Martinez, 51, was born in Downey, CA on December 22, 1962 and passed away in Long Beach, CA on August 20, 2014.
Vivian was a dancer from age 4 in tap and ballet. She was performing in community productions in ballet by age 11. She also performed in water ballet shows and won many trophies as a group in the Monterey Park area. She attended school in her younger years in Monterey Park, CA.
After graduating from Schurr High School, Vivian attended college at Rio Hondo in Whittier, CA. She worked at Coca Cola where she received training in the account department and eventually in the IT department where she was trained and schooled in computer technology. Vivian had various jobs after leaving Coca Cola.
Being an only child, Grandma Dela and Grandpa Ben were instrumental in helping raise Vivian. As an only child, she was very close to her cousins, Chuck Mancillas, her same age and schoolmate, Denise, Tom and Paul. As she got older she became close to her other cousins, Chris, Mark and Kari Lisa Pena. She met her husband, Fernie, through Mark, as well as many of her close friends, including Liza Cobos.
Vivian and Fernie were avid Oakland fans and enjoyed traveling to Oakland to attend games. They enjoyed camping and barbecuing.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Fernando Carrera of Long Beach, her mother and step-father, Patricia (Armand) Navarro of Montebello, her mother-in-law, Maria Carrera of La Puente, her sister-in-law, Raquel Carrera of Las Vegas, her aunt, Sally Mancillas of Montebello, her cousins, Denise Sandoval of Montebello, Chuck ( Evie) Mancillas of Whittier, Tom Mancillas of Hollywood, Paul (Elsie) Mancillas of Covina and her best friend, Liza Cobos of Pico Rivera.
